November 2010- Hardcore Hens!

Saturday 27th November 2010.

It’s -3deg. there is snow on the ground and a fair amount of the UK has ground to a halt in the Arctic conditions…

However, in Dorset, we’ll keep going!

We dusted the snow from the RIB and edged our way down the hill to the harbour and launched in a bitter NE wind. Once the snow was washed from the deck and the engine was nicely warmed, we were ready to go…

Bang on time the ladies arrived after an icy walk over the cliff path, and a somewhat surprised and a little confused hen, Petra, was ushered to the pontoon and the waiting RIB.

15 mins later and dressed head to toe in warm, wind proof oilskins the team boarded the RIB, took their seats and we left West Bay Harbour and headed out along the Jurassic Coast.

I’ve been out through the harbour entrance countless times, but I have to say, it’s never looked as pretty as it did that day with the grass cliffs paths replaced with white snow, it looked lovely…

Hugging the coastline we steamed east to past Burton Bradstock before turning and heading out to sea to gain a wider perspective of the coastline. It looked AMAZING!

Next stop was Golden Cap, although less golden and more white today, St. Gabriels beach and west to Charmouth and Lyme Regis all took on a new look in the snow.

A blast back to West Bay and into the harbour before bacon rolls and hot coffee…

What a great day.

have a look at the GALLERY for photos of the day.
